Update SharePoint Online connection credentials

If you're migrating from OneDrive for Business, follow the instructions for SharePoint unless specified.

As of Google Workspace Migrate version 2.1.18.0, Microsoft SharePoint Online source connections now use app-based authentication (client ID and client secret) rather than user-based authentication (username and password). If you open a project that contains SharePoint Online connections created before version 2.1.18.0, you will see the Update Connection Credentials dialog.

For details on how to generate a client ID and client secret for SharePoint Online, see Create app-based credentials for SharePoint Online.

Update your connection credentials

You must choose an option on the Update Connection Credentials dialog to continue using the selected project:

  • Click Enter Credentials to configure new app-based credentials for your SharePoint Online connections. Specify the Client ID and Client Secret of your SharePoint site and click Update. These credentials are applied to all connections listed.

Note: Credentials specified in the dialog are not validated, so confirm they are correct for all connections listed. If you are not sure, select Skip Credentials and configure each connection individually.

  • Click Skip Credentials if you would like to configure your new SharePoint Online credentials later. You will need to specify credentials by editing each connection individually before you can continue using the connection.
