File share requirements

Before you set up your migration from file shares, make sure you meet the following requirements. 

Before you begin

Make sure you: 

1. Meet the Google Workspace Migrate requirements.
2. Complete the steps to Install & set up Google Workspace Migrate.
3. Meet the requirements for file shares (below).
4. Familiarize yourself with Google Drive large migration best practices.

File share requirements

• A Windows-accessible file share (for example, SMB or NFS).
• A user account with full control rights across the entire file share.
• A UNC path to the file share.
