Common examples of mappings

Below are common examples of mappings that you might use when migrating data from Google Workspace using Google Workspace Migrate.

In the following examples, the source domain is example.com and the target domain is solarmora.com.

Example 1: Migrate a user's My Drive content from a source to a target domain

Example 4: Migrate orphaned items in Drive from the source account

In this example, you are migrating orphaned content (content that is unorganized or residing in folders that the user doesn't own) to a new folder on the target account called orphan_items. 

MapChildrenOnly is one word. Line breaks are for page formatting only.

In this example, you are migrating orphaned items to the user's Drive account. If you aren't sure if the source user has orphaned items or not, follow this example.

Shared drive examples

Example 1: Migrate a shared drive to a target shared drive

In this example, Google Workspace Migrate creates the target shared drive in the migration process. After migration, the target shared drive has the same name as the source shared drive.

Example 2: Migrate a shared drive to a newly created target shared drive

In this example, Google Workspace Migrate creates the target shared drive in the migration process. After migration, the target shared drive has a different name than the source shared drive.

Google Groups example

Example: Migrate a group in Google Groups from the source to the target account

In this example, you are migrating the source group's data to the target group. You must also use an identity mapping. To migrate group members, specify the source and target groups' and users' email addresses in the identity mapping.
