Change a customer's renewal option

You can change the subscription renewal option for an Annual Plan customer before their renewal date. You can do this both for customers who pay monthly or yearly. If you don’t change it, the customer’s subscription renews on the Flexible Plan automatically.

Update the renewal option

Changing the customer’s renewal option doesn’t impact their account.

  1. Sign in to your Reseller console.
  2. On the Customer page, click your customer’s name.
  3. Scroll to the Subscriptions section.
  4. Next to their subscription click + to expand the section.
  5. Next to renewal options, click Change.
  6. Select the renewal option you want and click Save.

Understand plan-specific options

A few renewal options are specific to monthly or yearly payment plans.

Annual Plan (Monthly Payments)

Auto-renew my contract with yearly billing—On the renewal date, your customer begins a new 12-month subscription, but switches from monthly payments to a single yearly payment. Notifications are automatically sent to you on 2 separate dates: 30 days and 3 days before the renewal date. You’re charged for all licenses for the entire year, at the end of the first month of the renewed contract.

Reduce my contract and renew with yearly billing—Use this option to renew your customer’s annual number of licenses to be the same as their existing number of users, and switch from monthly payments to a single yearly payment. You’re charged for all of your user accounts for the entire year, at the end of the first month of the renewed contract.

Annual Plan (Yearly Payments)

Explore options available to all customers

Most renewal options are available for all Annual Plan subscriptions. These include:

  • Auto-renew my contract—On the renewal date, your customer begins a new 12-month subscription for their account's number of user licenses. Notifications are automatically sent to you on 2 separate dates: 30 days and 3 days before the renewal date. If you’re limited by contract to a specific number of users allowed in each customer's domain, the number of licenses can’t go over this limit. For information about ordering additional licenses, see Add users to a customer’s account.
  • Reduce my contract—Use this option if you want to lower the number of licenses your customer has. For example, if a customer account currently has 50 licenses and 45 are registered to existing users, you can change the number of licenses to 45.
  • Switch to Flexible Plan—Unless updated, renewal switches the customer from either version of the Annual Plan to the Flexible Plan at the end of the subscription period.
  • Cancel my service at the end of my term—Service for this customer is suspended when the subscription period ends. When you select this option , you’re no longer billed for that customer after the term ends. In the Reseller console, the account appears as suspended on your customer list indefinitely. See Suspend a customer who hasn't paid.
