Important changes to your G Suite business email account

Action required before December 31, 2019

This information is only for customers who have business email powered by G Suite

After December 31, 2019, we'll automatically update your G Suite business email accountto a G Suite Basic account.

What changes

  • You get additional features included with G Suite Basic. Your email addresses remain the same.

  • Your pricing automatically changes on the effective date (January 1, 2020). You’re billed according to the G Suite Basic Flexible Plan(regional discounts apply).

  • Your Gmail and G Suite Basic accounts are permanently linked. This means if you cancel your G Suite Basic subscription, both your Gmail and your G Suite Basic accounts are deleted.

    If you don’t want your Gmail and G Suite Basic accounts permanently linked: Before December 31, 2019, you can cancel your G Suite business email account and return to using only your Gmail account.

Check how the change affects your account

Find out if you have a G Suite business email or G Suite Basic account:

  1. On your computer (not mobile device or tablet), go to Gmail.
  2. Sign in with your business email address (doesn't end in @gmail.com)
  3. In the top right, click Settings Settingsand then Settings.
  4. Click Manage this domain.
  5. Check which panel opens:

After December 31, 2019, your price per user account increases. You will be billed according to the G Suite Basic Flexible Plan(regional discounts apply).

OPTION 1: Update your account to G Suite Basic

Your G Suite Basic and Gmail accounts are permanently linked.
OPTION 2: Use only your Gmail account

You cancel your G Suite business email account.

We automatically update your G Suite business email account to a G Suite Basic account in January 2020.

Important: If you cancel your G Suite Basic subscription, both your G Suite and Gmail accounts are deleted.

Cancel your G Suite business email account and return to using only your free Gmail account.

You can forward messages sent to your old G Suite address (you@example.com) to your Gmail account.

> You must cancel your G Suite business email account before December 31, 2019.

OPTION 1: Update your account to G Suite Basic

We’ll automatically update your account to G Suite Basic after December 31, 2019. Your G Suite and Gmail accounts will become permanently linked. We recommend this option if your account is primarily for business use.

  • You continue to send and receive mail from both your G Suite and Gmail addresses.

  • Your G Suite Basic subscription includes features, such as adding email addresses at no additional cost. Learn more.

IMPORTANT CHANGES

If you cancel your G Suite Basic subscription, both your G Suite and Gmail accounts are deleted.

  • Your G Suite and Gmail email, files, photos, and other data are deleted. You can download and save some of this data before canceling your subscription. Learn more
  • You can keep or cancel your domain registration.

NEXT STEPS

You don't need to take any action. We'll send you a notification after we update your account to G Suite Basic in January 2020. Or you can update your account to G Suite Basic now and start using features such adding more email addresses. Learn how.

OPTION 2: Cancel your G Suite business email account

Before December 31, 2019, you can cancel your G Suite business email account and return to using only your Gmail account. We recommend this option if your account is primarily for personal use.

When you cancel your G Suite business email subscription:

  • Your Gmail account remains the same. Your account includes your email, files, photos, and most of the data created with your Gmail or G Suite address. Some G Suite data cannot be downloaded and saved. Learn more
  • You can cancel or keep your domain registration.
  • You can no longer send or receive messages from your G Suite email address. However, you can set up free email forwarding if you decide to keep your domain name.
  • Your storage is reduced from 30 GB to 15 GB (standard for Gmail accounts).

NEXT STEPS

Before December 31, 2019, complete these steps to Cancel your G Suite business email account and keep your Gmail account.

We recommend starting before December 1, 2019. The steps may take some time and you might want to contact Google Support.

If you don't cancel your G Suite business email account, then your account is automatically updated to G Suite Basic in January 2020.
