Is it possible to move from BYOD with to COPE without to have to re-enroll
0
Hi,

We are looking a Android 12 and the changes that are coming with removing IMEI and serial number. We need those for our asset system. So is it possible to change to COPE for our devices without to have to resort to re-enrollment.

Hello,
I believe that moving from BYOD to COPE (the new name is fully managed device with a work profile) is not possible, as fully managed device with a work profile is a managed device with a Work Profile, and to enroll a managed device you have to reset and re-enroll an existing device as managed devices have to be setup on factory reset devices.

Thanks, looks like it is not possible to change the enrollment type. I understand the unique identifier, but will it have the same identifier if you try to re-enroll?

Before Android 12, yes you should be able to use the serial number to re-assign the device.

Yes, thanks for the idea.
Thinking about two AAD groups.
One dynamic group for new devices and another one for existing devices
