Change your EMM provider

Change from a third-party EMM provider

If you use a third-party enterprise mobility management (EMM) provider and want to change it, ask your current EMM provider to remove Android management from your company’s Google Account. You can then use either Google endpoint management as your EMM provider or another third-party EMM.

Change from Google endpoint management

If you longer want to use Google endpoint management, you can adjust the Mobile Management settings for your platforms and management levels. You can change settings for all organizational units, and all device platforms or only only for Android. A potential benefit of changing only Android device management is that you will still be able to manage other devices with advanced mobile management.

Using different management providers (i.e Google Mobile Management and a third party EMM) for your devices, across different organizational units, is not supported. Instead, it is recommended that you manage all of your organizational units through either Google Mobile Management or a third party EMM.
  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

Sign in using an account with super administrator privileges (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. From the Admin console Home page, go to Devices.
  3. Click Setupand thenMobile Management.
  4. To apply the setting to everyone, leave the top organizational unit selected. Otherwise, select a child organizational unit.
  5. Update the mobile management settings for the platforms and management level you want:
    1. To change the setting for all device platforms, select Basic to use basic mobile management for all supported devices, or disable mobile management (not recommended).
    2. To change the setting for only Android devices, select Custom and set Android to Basic or Unmanaged (not recommended).
  6. Click Save. If you configured a child organizational unit, you might be able to Inherit or Override a parent organizational unit's settings.
  7. See Use a third-party EMM provider to change to a third-party EMM provider.
