Connect 2nd unit downstream via switch using TAGGED VLAN 1 Recommended Answer 1 Reply 1 Upvote
I have the primary unit connect SW1 on a port that is on VLAN 1. I then connect the "LAN" port of the primary unit to a VLAN 100 Untagged port. This switch is uplinked to another part of the house, SW2. Tagged VLAN traffic is send between SW1 and SW2. The WAN Port of the secondary unit is plugged into SW2-VLAN100-untagged port. WIll this work. I seem to be getting a Switch Loop Error when I try this. ANy help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, our Google Wifi still does not support VLAN tagging. If you use different wifi points for different VLANs then you need to create separate “individual” networks on the app for each wifi point. With this setup, you will not be able to use the wireless mesh technology of our device.
Since this feature is still not available on our device. I would recommend submitting feedback through the Google Wifi app. This information goes straight to our engineers and lets them know what kinds of things our customers are looking for in a network. We update our firmware up to every 6 weeks and the more people to request this feature, the more likely it may be on an upcoming firmware update.
On how to send feedback, you can follow these steps:
- Open the Google Wifi app.
- Tap the side menu (3 bars) in the upper-left corner.
- Tap Send Feedback
- On the feedback screen, write your feedback. Tap Include screenshot and logs to include them in your feedback.
- When you’re done, tap the send button.
