Guest Wi-Fi

Guest Wi-Fi is a separate network just for your guests. Guests will be able to get online and use shared devices that you choose, like a Chromecast, smart TV, wireless speaker, or printer. Learn more about your privacy with Google Nest Wifi and Guests & Google Home.

Set up Guest Wi-Fi

With the Google Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Wifi  and then under “Guest Wifi,” tap Set up.
  3. Turn on Guest Network.
  4. Enter a network name and password for your guests to use.

    • Choose a name and password that is different from your main Wi-Fi network.
  5. Under “Shared devices,” select any devices you would like your guests to be able to use.
  6. Tap Save.

With the Google Wifi app

  1. Open the Google Wifi app .
  2. Tap Settings and actions tab  and then Guest Wi-Fi and then Next.
  3. Enter a network name and password for your guests to use and then Next.
  4. Select any devices you would like your guests to be able to use.
  5. Tap Create.

 Note: Guest Wi-Fi cannot be set up if your Google Wifi point(s) is in bridge mode.

Turn off Guest Wi-Fi

With the Google Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Wifi  and then Guest Wifi.
  3. Turn off Guest Network.

With the Google Wifi app

You won’t be able to remove the Guest network entirely, but guests won’t be able to connect to it until you’ve turned it back on.

  1. Open the Google Wifi app .
  2. Tap Settings and actions tab  and then Guest Wi-Fi.
  3. Tap Edit  Edit .
  4. Tap the “Guest network” toggle to turn it off. 
  5. Tap Save

You can change the name of your guest network, password, and which devices are shared with your guests.

With the Google Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Wifi  and then Guest Wifi.
  3. Edit the details of your guest network.
  4. Tap Save.

With the Google Wifi app

Note: If you’ve set up your Google Wifi device in the Google Home app, use the Google Home app to make changes. Only the owner or managers of your Google Wifi point(s) can change the settings in the Google Wifi app. 

  1. Open the Google Wifi app .
  2. Tap Settings and actions tab  and then Guest Wi-Fi.
  3. Tap Edit Edit .
  4. Edit the details of your guest network.
  5. Tap Save

Share your Guest Wi-Fi password

With Google Nest Wifi or Google Wifi, you can easily see and share your Guest Wi-Fi password with guests through text, email, and other apps or on your Google Nest display.

Share your Guest Wi-Fi password from the Google Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Wifi  and then under “Guest Wifi,” tap Show password.
  3. Tap Copy, Message, or Email to share.

Share your Guest Wi-Fi password from the Google Wifi app

  1. Open the Google Wifi app .
  2. Tap Settings and actions tab  and then Guest Wi-Fi  and then Share.
  3. Select an app to share your password.

Share your Guest Wi-Fi password on Google Nest displays

  1. On a Nest display, swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi  and then Guest Wi-Fi.
  3. Your Guest Wi-Fi network name and password will be displayed.

To hide your guest password from your display:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Wifi .
  3.  Under “Guest network,” tap Show password and then Edit Edit.
  4. Uncheck Show your guest network password on your Assistant-enabled displays.
