If you encounter a critical issue with your OnHub, you may be able to recover it by reinstalling its original factory software. While recovering can resolve most serious issues, it will also permanently erase all information on your OnHub Device. You will need to go through setup again after recovery. We recommend exhausting all other options before using Recovery mode.
How do I create a recovery USB drive for my OnHub?
If your OnHub isn't working properly, you can create recovery media using Chrome. You will need a 4 GB or larger USB drive. Note: All data and partitions on the USB drive will be deleted. This is not possible on Google Wifi Devices.
- Install the OnHub Recovery Utility app.
- Open the app.
- Identify your OnHub by selecting the manufacturer and model.
- Insert your USB drive.
- Select your USB drive from the list.
- Create a recovery image.
- Recover your OnHub (see below).
How do I recover my OnHub?
To restore your OnHub, you will need a USB stick with a recovery image.
- Unplug the power cable from your OnHub.
- Plug the thumb drive into the USB port on your OnHub.
- Find the pinhole reset button. Press and hold it with a paperclip and plug in the power cable.
- Continue to hold the reset button for about 20 seconds or until the activity light on the USB drive starts to blink.
- Your OnHub will go through the recovery process, which can take up to 15 minutes. Note: Even though your OnHub’s light is turned off, the recovery process has begun.
- Once your OnHub has been recovered, it will reboot. When your OnHub’s light pulses blue, it is ready for setup. Use the Google Wifi app to set up your OnHub.
