What the light on your Wifi device means
The light from your Google Nest Wifi or Google Wifi device shows the status of your device. Different colours and pulses will indicate how your device is performing. Note: Light colours are different for the Google Nest Wifi router, Google Nest Wifi points and Google Wifi points.
Colour | What it means | What to do |

No light |
Router has no power or the light was dimmed in the app. |
Check that the power cable is properly connected to your router and to a working power socket. If your device is already set up and the light appears off, check your light brightness settings in the app. If there's still no light, contact customer support. |
Fast blinking white | Device is booting up |
Wait for the device to boot up. This takes about a minute. |
Slowly pulsing white | Device is ready for set up |
Use the Google Home app to set up your router. |
Solid white | Router is online and all is well. | You're online. Enjoy! |
Pulsing yellow | There is a network error. |
Check that the Ethernet cable is connected to both your router and your modem and that both devices are turned on. You might need to unplug and plug in each device again. |
Fast blinking yellow |
You are holding down the reset button and are factory resetting this device. |
If you keep holding down the reset button, after about 12 seconds, the light will turn solid yellow. Once it is solid yellow, let go of the factory reset button. |
Solid yellow | Router is factory resetting. | This can take up to 10 minutes. When it's done, the device will reset itself and start pulsing white, letting you know that it's ready for setup. |
Solid red | Something is wrong | Critical failure. Factory reset the router. If the light stays red, contact customer support. |
The light ring on the bottom of the point shows various statuses.
Note: The 2 white LEDs on the top of the point indicates volume control and helps you know where to touch to control volume. These will appear when music is playing and your hand gets close or when you touch the volume controls.

Fast pulsing yellow | You’re about to factory reset the device. |
Continue holding the factory reset button to reset the device, or let go to stop. |
Solid yellow | The device is resetting. | Wait for the device to reset itself. It may take several minutes. When it’s ready for set up, the device will slowly pulse white. |
Slowly pulsing yellow | There is a network error. |
Check the connections between your modem and your router or primary Wifi point. You might need to unplug and plug in each device again. If your network is working, but a particular point isn’t. Try restarting your point in the Home app. If that doesn’t fix the issue, Factory reset your point and set it up again. |

Use the Google Home app to complete set up.

Set up the Wifi point in app. The light will turn solid teal once the Wifi point is online. |
Solid blue | Wifi point is factory resetting itself. | This can take up to 10 minutes. When it's done, the Wifi point will reset itself and start pulsing blue, letting you know it's ready for setup. |
Pulsing orange | Wifi point has no Internet connection. | Check that the Ethernet cable is properly connected to your primary Wifi point and modem. |
Pulsing red | Wifi point has an issue. | Factory reset the Wifi point. If it continues to pulse red, contact customer support. |
