Abusive notifications

Abusive notifications use or reference browser notifications to mislead users or promote malware or phishing. They fall into two broad categories, as listed below—"Permission request issues" and "Notification issues." 

Examples are not meant to be complete or comprehensive.

Permission request issues

Abusive Notification Permission Requests

Requests for browser notifications that are designed to mislead, trick, or force users into allowing notifications.
Examples include requests that require users to allow notifications in order to gain access to site content or that are preceded by misleading pre-prompts.

Notification issues

Fake Messages

Notifications that resemble chat messages, warnings, or system dialogs.

Phishing

Notifications that attempt to steal personal information or trick users into sharing personal information.

Malware

Notifications that promote, host, or link to malware or unwanted software.
