Can I turn off search results giving me adverts?

As the title says, any way I can turn it off and only have pages related to my searches?
I am considering changing browser because whatever I search for, I have to scroll past adverts before I can actually find useful results, but if what I search for is an item in a store; Google instantly prioritises the stores before the information. It makes it extremely frustrating when searching because it will also completely miss out words in my search to prioritise stores to advertise, and it's not uncommon that those stores may have just one word listed on that page which is in my search but is completely irreverent. (Also keeping in mind having to deal with cookies on every page too.)

I tried using the " " function to single out more important words, which helps sometimes.

This is not any malware/personal computer problem of my own. I have this on multiple computers and accounts.

Any way I can turn the damn adverts off? Add-blocker does not effect the Google search. :/

Check your ad blocker settings. There's often a setting to allow less intrusive ads, which doesn't block ads in Google Search. That setting in my ad blocker is "Allow Acceptable Ads". Uncheck that, and ads on the Google Search page should disappear.

Google may show up to four ads at the top of a page, and three ads at the bottom -- if you're seeing more ads than that, then they're not Google ads.

Incidentally, in another thread about search hijackers, several users have mentioned that their ad blocking extension was actually injecting extra ads and ad-like results into the Google Search results page. When they removed the ad blocking extension, everything returned to normal. There are several ad blocking extensions with very similar names and icons, and it looks like at least one of them may be "rogue".

I get the same results whether I use an add blocker or not. I mean that Google prioritises store results (followed by news articles) over page results.

You say you're "considering changing browser" -- are you saying this doesn't happen with Google Search in other browsers? Which browser are you using?

Hi Kayleigh,

In the Adblocker I use from the Google Play Store, I do not see ads on a search results page, top, bottom OR on the side of the page.  No ads show up in videos I watch.  Also, no pop-up ads on a website or otherwise.  Another benefit the AdBlocker stops the Ads on the right side of the page when you open up Gmail.
