Dark Mode now available on Google App (Android 10+, iOS 12+)

Hi folks, Chris M here - Google Search Community Manager.

I'm excited to announce that starting today & fully rolling out over the next week or two, dark mode is now available for the Google App on Android 10 and iOS 12/13. Thank you for all your feedback on this forum letting us know that this was a feature you wanted to see!

Here's how it works:

By default, the Google App will reflect your device’s system settings in Android 10 & iOS 13. If that’s set to a dark theme, the app will be in dark mode.

Android users can refer to this help article: https://support.google.com/android/answer/9730472 and IOS users could open the Settings app > Display & Brightness > choose Light or Dark

I like how dark mode it on my google discovery, I believe it be alot better if dark mode was set on google chrome web browser as well. I have my note 9 set to dark mode and I love it!! It helps me with my eyes.

My Google Apps Dark Mode has suddenly disappeared and there is no option to enable it in settings. I use an Oneplus 6 running on Android 10.

I run two google accounts on my device and when i switched from my primary account to my secondary account, the dark mode was available in settings and working. But when i switched back to my primary account Dark mode disappeared.

Please Help.

On my iphone 11, i have dark mode on system wide, but in my google app, it is not on dark mode and when i go into settings there is no theme option to change it. My google app and phone is all updated so i am not understanding the problem, please help!

A good step towards user friendliness. The customization of dark and light mode for Google Apps is as amazing as custom boxes. Like you can customize your boxes, the same you can do with the appearance of Google App. I really like this dark mode. Bravo!

can i still watch porno vids while on a network that has safe search on no matter if i keep turning it on or not it stilll stays on so with this dark could i bypass the network admin???? <3 to know so let me know lol

Wow That's Great I'm happy to see the dark mode of google app .but I'm facing a little issue when I refresh the webpage it will be changed to light mode automatically kindle, assist me how can I solve this issue on my android device.

I have been waiting for dark mode to come on Gmail iOS since it was announced back in September 2019 and no matter all the effort and the wait I did not get it to go to dark mode or the elusive fairytale theme option in settings never appeared, I have an 8plus yesterday July 14 I had to swap my 8plus to a newer one because of battery issues and it was included in my warranty and today (I've been checking almost daily) I finally got the dark mode on the newer device and I don't know if that has something to do with the hardware but it's there now and so the unicorn theme option is there as well I bring this up because I can't think of any other reason if it's not the hardware being that it's the same model so whoever needs to look into it I hope you do I'm happy that I finally have it but the wait was painful

My first impression on the dark mode is very nice as it is very safe for eyes, especially at night. Keep improving google....
