How do I disable voice that speaks my search answer answer out load? I've tried everything that I could find in last year community. Using Galaxy S9. Also, want it turned off even when I'm in hands-free mode.  Basically I'm frustrated because I've had this turned off before and it seems like every update or every couple weeks Google turns it on automatically and then when I tried last time to get it to stop doesn't work please help.  I don't want Google to speak to me at all.

Same problem. My only options in settings for "Spoken results" are: "All voice searches" or "Hands-free searches only" and there is no option for "Never speak results" (or something like that). I used to be able to use the mic to speak to search but not be FORCED to hear spoken results. Now, as far as I can tell, the only way to have silent results is type into search and never use the mic. THIS SEEMS LIKE A GIANT LEAP BACKWARDS!!!

Lol, there is really still no solution to this? Google GIVE US MORE CONTROL OVER OUR SETTINGS!
The amount of control we have is so incredibly minimal. Did you ever stop to think your customers would ever, you know, want to make changes to their settings? Don't flatter yourselves. Your software is not oh so perfect no one would ever need to make changes. Really incredible. It's 2019 and Google, an allegedly great tech company.

This feature is incredibly annoying - I'm not visually impaired, I don't need a (very annoying) voice telling me that it what I can already see on the screen. Please allow us to turn off this feature.

Please allow us to switch off the voice. There is no need for it and it stops me from using the voice search as I don't need the content read out to me.

Hey everybody! No sooner had I posted my previous message when I realised a quick and easy solution. Go to this domain for chrome settings: chrome://settings/content/sound

Then add https://www.google.com to the domains that you want to mute sound from. She no longer says a word!

Ok, immediate downside; I tried to listen to the pronunciation of a word from a google search and that was also muted.

It is not possible to permanently disable spoken search results in Chrome.  Every method I have tried gets reset again when I restart Chrome.  Doesn't matter if I'm logged in to my Google account or not, the setting for "Spoken answers/Just show text" does not stick in Chrome.  At least not on a Mac and not on Android.  For Google to be so insistent on forcing this setting, it must be getting some hidden benefit from it.

I may have stumbled upon a solution, at least for my android phone (LG 7 thinQ).  Go to google search page tap the menu (3 line "hamburger") at the top right corner in chrome, then tap "settings", scroll down and tap "site settings", scroll down and tap "sound". There is a toggle to turn off the sound, but leave that ON and hit "add exception" then you can add any site you want to silence, like google.com !  Hope this helps some of you.

This for PC only:  AFTER every search in Google, a search panel remains at the top of the page - with the microphone in it. (Right hand side) Just below the microphone underneath the search panel and to the left of it,Is a ‘SETTINGS’ button.
Click that and then click the top item on the list that appears. Which is ‘Search Settings’. After clicking that.. scroll down to ‘Spoken answers’ and click ‘Just show text’ scroll to the page bottom and click ‘Save’.
