Images search, custom date range search filter missing

I use the custom date range search filter on Images daily.

Starting today, the option is not listed on the TOOLS / "TIME" dropdown menu. I tried closing the browser and opening again, but it didn't help.

is this permanent? I am using a laptop which has never been identified automatically as mobile. There were a number of posts referring to this problem with mobile.

Google constantly targets random users with experimental variations to the Search and Image Search interfaces. Sometimes the differences are barely noticeable. Other variations are much more noticeable.

You may be seeing one of these experiments. You could try clearing cache and cookies but, if that doesn't help, there's nothing you can do but wait until Google thinks you've had enough and releases you from the experiment!

Of course, there's also the possibility that Google have removed the feature permanently but, as this is a user community, we have limited ways to confirm whether that is the case. However, I'll try to find out.

In the meantime I encourage you to send your feedback direct to Google using the "Send Feedback" link at the bottom of the results page.

Just noticed this as well.  I can still use a custom date range in a search, but not in an image search.

I am also annoyed by this, I can only do an images search by year, last month, day..but can not search from specified time range which I need, I do not understand why they are screwing around with the search tools like this.
:(

Ive tryed avanced settings, logging in, and out..but nothing helps.

Same with changing search results to show a specified resolution, now I only get large, medium, icon etc..though you may enter advanced setting to search initially for those resolutions, it´s not the same as filtering results

Edit...what it strange though, that is if you use a pre existing image from a site or upload, then you can actually filter that result based on specified custom time period, But not directly in image search as it once used to be able to do.

What a load of bull - this boilerplate answer was also trotted out after Goggle removed the size range drop down from image searches.

We don't quite know WHY you have removed them, but I guess we can either go somewhere else or live with your over-bearing nanny-state uncaring changes that make it "better" for us

in reality, it saves you bandwidth, doesn't it??

Well, duck-duck and even bing might be worth it if there is nothing special about your searches anymore.

I guess you really think that the market will change to fall in line with your will.

Good luck with that

This is one of the most useless decisions by google. Something I use so frequently randomly yanked from users. Lets hope they hear the outcry and put it back.

Google, more useless, one feature at a time.

They've been removing so many features and it's annoying me! On mobile, i used to be able to use the "Time" search tool on images, now that drop down is missing from there. On desktop, there were various options for the "Size" dropdown, showing a variety of pixel ranges to choose from, now they narrowed it down to 3, "Icon, medium and large" which is not helpful when I'm trying to find images over or under a specific pixel count. They then removed the "Past Hour" option from the image "time" search tool, also not helpful when i'm trying to find recently posted images. And now they've removed the custom range filter, which I used to find images posted in a specific past year, month, etc.
I just can't comprehend why they're introducing these good search filters only to remove them for no reason.

What in the ever loving heck like I needed to look up some old search results cause I was proud how I've corrupted google image search with the search term "Strynex" but I wanted to go and see how it used to look but now its straight up gone and I was like okay maybe I'll go to bing cause you know maybe it corrupted at the same rate with my shenanigans but it turns out it didn't so I legit couldn't do a before or after photo of how well Ive spread information about this one small thing of mine and now the time bar is gone and Im salty as all get out because I can't even use the way back machine to find out how it used to look.

it doesn't even work with the hour and custom date ranges set from the main site

it's the same thing, but even url tweaking doesn't work

the 'new' images search is just a mess, it doesn't support the date ranges at all

a few months before they pushed the 'second' version with the sidebar that is broken, that version didn't work with regular filters at all!

looks like they still haven't finished testing it yet

and no amount of clearing cookies or using ones that used to give me the old search will bring it back :(

I was having no luck adding the date modifier either but after using that date modifier, getting no useful result, then going back to the [tools] setting button in the search modifier bar right under the search [Time] button that then opens a fly-out window the [Custom range] option is available there.
