I suspect your computer has been compromised by malware.

There are a number of steps I suggest you take.

First, check your proxy settings.

To check your proxy settings in Chrome/Windows:

  • Go to Chrome Menu Icon.jpg >  Settings > Show advanced settings > Network

  • Click “Change proxy settings

  • In the Internet Properties panel that opens, click “LAN Settings

Unless you have specifically chosen a different setting, the only checked box should be:

Automatically detect settings

If you have difficulty changing the settings back to normal, malware may have made a registry entry that forces the incorrect setting.

Try scanning your computer for malware.

You may need to use more than one anti-malware product to detect all malware. Here are some of the more popular/effective products:

Malwarebytes Anti-malware

Spybot Search & Destroy

Kaspersky TDSSKiller

If you feel uncomfortable or unqualified to fully investigate this issue, I suggest you enlist the services of a competent and trusted computer technician.

Levels

Member levels indicate a user's level of participation in a forum. The greater the participation, the higher the level. Everyone starts at level 1 and can rise to level 10. These activities can increase your level in a forum:

  • Post an answer.
  • Having your answer selected as the best answer.
  • Having your post rated as helpful.
  • Vote up a post.
  • Correctly mark a topic or post as abuse.

Having a post marked and removed as abuse will slow a user's advance in levels.
