Make Google my homepage

You can quickly get to Google every time you open your browser by making Google your homepage. Here are some instructions for common browsers:

Google Chrome

  1. Click the Chrome menu Chrome menu in the top right corner of your browser.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. search settings appearance section screenshot In the "Appearance" section, check the box next to Show home button. When the box is checked, you'll see a web address below it.

Internet Explorer 6+

  1. Click Tools in the menu bar on the top of your browser.
  2. Select Internet Options.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. In the "Home page" section, enter [//www.google.com] in the text box.
  5. Click OK.

After completing the steps above, restart your browser to see your new homepage.

Firefox 7.1+

  1. Open your browser and visit www.google.com.
  2. Click the icon to the left of the web address, drag it to the Home button in the upper right-hand side of the browser, and release.
  3. Click Yes.

Safari 3.0+ (Mac OS X)

  1. In your browser, click the Safari menu > Preferences
  2. Click the General tab.
  3. In the Home page section, enter [www.google.com] in the text box and click enter.
