You can use AI Mode to manage time-consuming requests such as researching service costs, finding open appointment slots, or checking if an item is in stock nearby. AI Mode simplifies your search by gathering information from across the web, completing forms, or calling businesses directly to get the specific details you need when info isn’t available online.
With AI Mode, you can:
- Find local appointments, such as haircuts or auto repair.
- Research available home services, such as electricians, tree cutting, or exterior cleaning.
- Check real-time pricing, shopping inventory, or dining reservations.

How it works
- On your computer, go to Google Search and tap AI Mode
.
- You can also go to google.com/ai.
- Enter your question in the Ask anything bar near the bottom of the screen.
- “Deep cleaning appointment for an apartment move out.”
- “Reservation for 6 on Friday with vegetarian options”
- You can select “Check for me” to let AI Mode help you with your request.
- To ensure you get exactly what you're looking for, AI Mode may ask a few quick follow-up questions to clarify your request.
- Note: If your initial request has enough detail, this step will be skipped automatically.
- When businesses have limited information available online, Google can make calls on your behalf to gather the details you need.
- If calls are made, only the details you shared and confirmed will be provided to businesses..
- If you prefer that Google only searches online and doesn’t make phone calls, you can type “don’t call” into the prompt box and then select Enter.
- Review the details of your request and decide if you would like to receive an email notification. If calls are made, this email will alert you as soon as the results are ready.
- Select Looks good to let AI Mode proceed.
- To view your results:
- Web results take a few minutes, while call results (if calls are made) can take up to 30 minutes.
- You can leave and return to AI Mode later. A blue dot will appear on the thread when your results are ready in AI Mode history
.
- If you opted into email notifications, you’ll also receive an email if calls are made and your results are ready.
- To end all work on your request, select Stop
.
Important:
- AI Mode is designed to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information. If a business does not have its information listed online, such as the earliest available appointment or current inventory in stock, Google will make a call to get those answers for you.
- AI Mode can process multiple requests simultaneously. If you provide unrelated details during an active search, AI Mode will suggest starting a new thread so each task is handled independently.
- Google only calls for the specific information you've requested, keeping interactions brief, professional, and focused. Business owners can learn more about managing these automated calls.
How data helps Google develop generative AI in Search
To develop and improve generative AI experiences in Search and the related machine learning technologies, Google uses people's interactions with Search and these AI experiences. This can include interactions like what people search for and what feedback they provide to Google. With user feedback and human reviews, we evaluate and improve the quality of our results and products responsibly.
When trained reviewers work to improve the quality of Search’s machine learning models, we take a number of precautions to protect users’ privacy:
- Data that reviewers see and annotate are disconnected from users’ accounts.
- Automated tools help recognize and remove a broad range of identifying info and sensitive personal information.
