The word 'Ad' is displaying before Page Title in search results

Hello. I've been struggling to troubleshoot a problem. In search results for many of my articles, I see the word "Ad" before the page title. For example, "Ad Lens.com Review: How I Saved 75% on Contact Lenses."  When you click through to the page, it doesn't show the word Ad in the page title. It's only in search results, and it's not all the time.

This happened after I switched to the Astra Pro theme and Schema plugin. Their support says I should contact Ezoic, my ad company. They said I should remove the ad Ezoic places at the top of the page. Ezoic said it's not them and it's probably Yoast SEO. Yoast SEO says they've never seen it before. Basically I'm going around in circles.

Has anyone seen this before? Do you have any advice on the steps I should take to troubleshoot this?

You  posted in the Google Search Help Community, but it sounds like your question is about your website.

For more specialized assistance with website issues, I'm moving this thread to the Google Search Central (previously Webmasters) Help Community.

You may also find helpful information in the Search Console Help Center.

Hi,

I just checked the source code of your website that Google shows as cached version.

There, you can find the following HTML markup for your article's main title (<h1>). I assume that ezoic, which is an ad network, is injecting an advertisement directly to your title, at least for the AMP version of your page.

<h1 class="amp-post-title"><span id="ezoic-pub-ad-placeholder-608" class="ezoic-adpicker-ad"></span><span data-style='display:block !important;float:none;margin-bottom:15px !important;margin-left:0px !important;margin-right:0px !important;margin-top:15px !important;min-height:100px;text-align:center !important;' class='ezoic-ad adtester-container adtester-container-608' data-ez-name='michaelsaves_com-'><div amp-access="e608 = 1" amp-access-hide><amp-ad width=320 height=100 data-block-on-consent type="ezoic" json='{&#34;extras&#34;:{&#34;SubPositionId&#34;:608,&#34;AdSize&#34;:&#34;320x100&#34;,&#34;TemplateName&#34;:&#34;pub_site_mobile_amp&#34;,&#34;TemplateId&#34;:167,&#34;Flag&#34;:true,&#34;Url&#34;:&#34;https://michaelsaves.com/save-money/lens-com-review/amp/&#34;}}'></amp-ad></div></span><span data-style='display:block !important;float:none;margin-bottom:15px !important;margin-left:0px !important;margin-right:0px !important;margin-top:15px !important;min-height:50px;text-align:center !important;' class='ezoic-ad adtester-container adtester-container-608' data-ez-name='michaelsaves_com-'><div amp-access="i608 = 1" amp-access-hide><amp-ad width=320 height=50 data-block-on-consent type="ezoic" json='{&#34;extras&#34;:{&#34;SubPositionId&#34;:608,&#34;AdSize&#34;:&#34;320x50&#34;,&#34;TemplateName&#34;:&#34;pub_site_mobile_amp&#34;,&#34;TemplateId&#34;:167,&#34;Flag&#34;:true,&#34;Url&#34;:&#34;https://michaelsaves.com/save-money/lens-com-review/amp/&#34;}}'></amp-ad></div></span>Lens.com Review: How I Saved 75% on Contact Lenses</h1> </div>

Looks like thats the reason why Google is adding "Ad" in front of your title in it's search results.

Hi Michael

As Nikolaj Antonov rightly says, your DNS setup is wrong...

I'd also try and sort out some of the underlying coding errors...
https://validator.w3.org/  shows a mix of 101 errors and warnings with your HTML
https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/ has 40 errors with your CSS

While the coding shouldn't affect things, the clearer the intent to the automated bot, the better.
