Hello,
I get very good results for months on FCP, but in the SpeedTest Insights / Field Data it keeps raising. It’s not updating the field data often like back in March/April 2019. Returning users even gets lower (better) values of FCP. Should I trust the field data values it shows me here and work further on it or it is gonna be updated soon like the other test tools? Here is the page url I am talking about : https://piyasa.paratic.com/

I am attaching the test results below.
Thanks for your answers.

Hello,

I would recommend you to read more here about the FCP metric: https://developers.google.com/web/tools/lighthouse/audits/first-contentful-paint

It actually could be dependable on many factors like the resources you are loading until the first readable stage of your website or even your internet connection. In other words it's normal for the tools to show different values, because of these factors. The main idea is the results to be closer between the tools.

What you get as a result at the moment is great :)

Hope this helps,

Dido, thank you for your answer. All the test results we get are close to each other just the field data is the way different. What I am trying to understand here is even we get good results in every tests, how come users get worse results? Is there any other test tool that I can check for the users who has slower connection etc?

Hello again,

You are welcome! How do you know that they get worse results?

Generally speaking this metric is absolutely normal not to be constant, because of the internet connection and the connection of the user with the server too.

The field data means the data gathered from real users right? That is why I thought the users get worse results. OK, thank you anyway.

Yes, you can read more about it here: https://developers.google.com/speed/docs/insights/v5/about

It shows you average because the green score should point on at least 90%. or in other words maybe you have to work more on how your website loads up on internet connections with different speed.

Hello again Dido,

I've got a cache mechanism that makes all the calculations etc. and creates a static html file at the end. And my server serves this html file as the response of the request. What I am trying to say here is my pages are really fast, you feel like you are using a mobile application. ( https://piyasa.paratic.com if you want to try ). But when it comes to the field data page speed tells me my site has average speed compared to the other sites.. I haven't seen any websites which is faster than our's according to LightHouse, Audits in Developer Tools and PageSpeedInsights..

As I mentioned before, I've been working very hard to make this website fast and get the same results in the field data. Finally I think I found something. All the test I make I get consistent results.. But whenever I choose "Simulated" as the throttling I get different results in Audits result page and ViewTrace (Performance Screen).

Could you please explain why this numbers are different? Please see the attachment.

Thank you for your answer.

Hello,

From what I see your results are pretty good and you don't need to worry about anything :) Very very good job!

It's absolutely normal to see some different metrics and results when you test different types of connections. Please keep in mind that the average speed you see is a calculation based on your pages and the collected data by the public Chrome UX Performance - you can read more here: https://developers.google.com/web/tools/chrome-user-experience-report/

So you have improved your loading speed almost perfectly and soon people will experience it and your data will start changing within the time.

Hope this helps,

I have the same problems with BytesIn, the field data is way way above the actual lab report and Lighthouse testing.
