Adsense Mobile Speed Penalty

I have just received an email from Search Console about mobile speed. In part it reads:

Google has detected that your site loads slowly on mobile devices. This means that users have to wait longer to see the content, and are more likely to leave before the page is loaded. As a result, links to your site will be downgraded when determining their rankings. For that reason, we strongly advise you to improve the page loading speed of your site on mobile devices. If the speed of your site is improved, our system will automatically reflect these changes in Google Search result rankings.

The only assets that are slowing my mobile site are Google Adsense javascript files. When I remove Adsense ads, my mobile speed in near perfect.

So Google is penalizing me for using Google Adsense. I lose income or lose ranking. But probably both.

Without seeing the site it's hard to judge.

Maybe there is something in the way you load ads that could be changed to make loading more streamlined.
