When I Google search my website, it lists my business on the search results as normal. However, when I click on the link it redirects to an online pharmacy. What can I do?

Hello,

This community is for issues with using Google's Search Tool's.  Since this is more about your website, please see the Webmasters-Search Console Community for further assistance.  Sounds like your website has been hacked.
Thanks

The problem is with Google Search. I have been round and round with both my website host and Goggle. The problem only occurs when I attempt to access my website from the Google Search list of results. The website functions perfectly well when I access it from other search engines and by directly typing in the web address.

Hi,

I'll be glad to check it for you as it sounds like what is called a Conditional Hack.  Hackers can set it up to redirect anywhere they want for any searches specifically from a Google Referral or even for Googlebot when it crawls your website.  Can not do anything more without a link to your website.  If you want to hide the site link from the forums, you can use a url shortener like https://bitly.com  Or attach a screenshot that clearly shows the url to your site.

NOTE:  Please make additional posts from the account you initially opened this thread with as your responses in another google account will not send me emails to know you responded.

Thank you so very much! I am at my wits end. This is the website for an education non-profit and this kind of thing is horrible for us. We have bounced around from tech support to tech support without any real answers.

The hacked website is the-attic dot org (. instead of dot)

I couldn't get the address to post as it is regularly written, thus dot instead of .

Hi,

No problem, I have checked the site.  A godaddy site and the problem is with the host.  There is at the very least a hacking of your .htaccess file.  Change Passwords to your hosting for sure!!!!
Here are several tests I ran with different conditions.
referrer: google - useragent: chrome  note the meta refresh to another site.
referrer: none - useragent: googlebot  with this your search results will start to show the drug spam in the snippets.  In fact it has already started as can be noted by this site search on your site.
.
So as to what may be in your sites .htaccess file, take a look at this link...

So that will give you an idea of what your site/hosting is dealing with.  This needs to be taken care of quickly before all of your site/page results show that hacking.

Steve

Rotary Steve, I appear to be having the same issue with my church's website.  the link southwedgemission.org still take us to the right page, but when anyone searches "South Wedge Mission" on google, they are redirected to a viagra site.  We are also hosted by go-daddy.  Is there anyway to get help from google to verify its a go daddy issue, or, if not, where else the hack may have come from?
Thanks,
Matthew

I am having the exact same issue with www.thepoolmaninc.com. I contacted GoDaddy and they said everything looks fine on their end. I also reported it as spam to Google on 5/16/19 but it does not appear that they have done anything with it yet nor contacted me back. Thoughts?

99.99999% of the time its your .htaccess file in the root of the hosting site (where your website is hosted) so in our case it was godaddy. The only line in there was their redirects, I removed them and all is well.

rotary steve might not see your post here, so open your own thread and others will see it too.

This original thread is very old, as well.

In order not to confuse different sites and different issues, can you please post your own thread?

Thanks.
