massive drop in traffic after domain migration

my website https://tecnobits.xyz/ has suffered a drastic drop in google search results after migrating to our new domain https://tecnobits.net/, however i have followed carefully the google domain migration guide and established proper 301 redirections.

I have gone from 2000 visits per day to only 400 visits per day, or even less.

At this point I don't know what to do, but I have noticed that search console has excluded all the posts of my old website because they have 301 redirects pointing to the corresponding addresses of the new domain. it is as if google believes that my current site is a new one and different from the previous one.

one thing i should point out is that besides the domain change we also migrated from our hosting provider, since the previous service had many performance problems. we literally asked for a migration of the site to the new server (which was handled by the new hosting provider) and after using google's migration tool we also established the corresponding 301 redirections.

could someone take a look at my site? thanks in advance

Hi dwsmart, the articles (from the original xyz site obviously) have been excluded in the property of tecnobits xyz because they are detected as "page with redirection"

when analyzing any tecnobits.xyz link in the search console, google indicates this:

The URL is not in Google

This page is not indexed, but not because of any error.

Hi Marco,

If you are looking in the .xyz property, then that's what you want to see, you have redirected the page, to the .net version.

So looks like this is a positive sign that the redirect is working as intended.

Check the .net version, that's the one you want indexed.

hello, in the .net property, all the articles are indexed i think (I also uploaded the corresponding site map: https://tecnobits.net/sitemap_index.xml), but what I don't understand is why the traffic has decreased almost 70%.

indexation in the xyz domain property (old site, strangely enough, search console never recognized the site map I uploaded months ago, only indicates that discovered 3218 pages "indexed, not submitted on sitemap". this seems to be a common problem in all thex "xyz" domains):

indexation in the net domain property (new site, here,  search console recognized 2511 entries of the site map plus 583 sites "indexed, not submitted on sitemap", in total: 3094 discovered pages):

the migration started on february 1st, and at this point, the visits are still much lower than before the change.
since the migration, the traffic remains stagnant at 400 visits per day:

(The above indicates: "One of your websites is moving to this one.")

when before that the normal daily traffic was 1300 to 2000 visits:

(above indicates: "this website is moving to tecnobits.net")

i have checked everything, i have followed all the steps indicated by the google tool, and i do not get the reason for this decrease.

could you guys give me a hand?

It's perhaps a little early to start totally panicking yet, you are not even a month in the move yet. Sometimes it can be a bit more turbulent for a little longer as stuff is worked out.

What do your other analytics tell you, is there a drop in traffic as measured by them?

Are other sources staying strong?

To this day my website traffic is still bad, so I can only assume that I have lost the "link juice" and therefore I have gone from appearing on the first page of results to pages 4,5 and 6 of Google

Can anyone tell me if the backlinks are completely lost when migrating from the domain by doing 301 redirects? I think google is simply ignoring my backlinks completely and assumes that my site is only 1 month old and has no backlinks at all.

A few observations:

You can check the cached version of the old URLs to confirm Google is seeing the redirect

Looks like the home page might have been redirected to /home/ initially

Lots of images redirect to a 404

http://tecnobits.xyz/default.htm redirects to a 404
Ahrefs sees almost 4000 404s but I don't know how much of that was intentional

Make sure nothing remains orphaned on the old domain (I haven't found any cases)

To this date, my website traffic is still on the floor. I have checked the site and the 404 errors I have found are related to useless tags and dynamic pages that were removed long before the domain migration.

i think google should make it clear to webmasters that this statement is FALSE:

"Google: There is no PageRank dilution when using 301, 302, or 30x redirects anymore" (https://searchengineland.com/google-no-pagerank-dilution-using-301-302-30x-redirects-anymore-254608)

Because in reality, there IS A MASSIVE FALL in PageRank and therefore in traffic. And since google does not have an online support system, it should at least seriously warn of the risks involved in a domain migration.
