Unable to resolve Try checking the URL for validity.

Can someone help me? when ever I used google insight for testing, I got an error message " Unable to resolve Try checking the URL for validity." What do I need to do at my end?

Last month I have changed the url from https:// to https://www version through database. I have contacted my hosting provider and they told me I have to contact Google for further assistant. I would be very glad if someone can help me fixed.

Hi Suanlian

Screaming Frog won't 'fix' it, it'll simply reveal any issues within the site's linking structure.  It's free for 500 URLs, so you can try it to get an idea if it'll be useful.

How you address it will depend on what you've used to build the site. It may well be simply a global setting somewhere, so that one change will then update things across the board. Right now (as I've shown you with that small screen grab), there are a huge number of http:// links.

The problem this causes, is that the bot expects your site to be consistent in terms of internal URLs and while there is a site-wide 301 that corrects this error (so to the end user), the bot wants it right without following a re-direct. It basically assumes that, as you manage the site, you should 'KNOW' the correct prefix ;-)

Hi Suanlian TP

PageSpeed Insights works fine for me here in the UK.

You do have a ton of links on your site incorrectly specified, which you'll need to fix for sure.  I've crawled just 44% of the site and of the 1,973 URLs at that point, 946 are incorrect, as they look like this..

If the site is https://www, then everything needs to be specified as https://www not http://

I'd download Screaming Frog (do a websearch - I've no affiliation btw!) and use it to assist with sorting all this out.  It's free for 500URLs so you can at least try it and see just how many of these links are broken (there are literally tons). I suspect you'll need to get a licenced version to help resolve the entire site as it's so large.

Hi John,

Really thank you for the quick reply. Will it be fixable by using Better Search/Replace plugin? or else I have to opt Licenced Screaming Frog.
