Learn why data might look different across various parts of the Performance report or when compared to other tools.
Discrepancies between chart and table totals
You might see differences between the chart totals and the table totals for several reasons:
|
Reason |
Explanation |
|---|---|
|
Aggregation difference |
When you add a page or Search appearance filter, the chart and table data are aggregated differently, which can cause total clicks and impressions to rise (or, rarely, drop) in the chart. |
|
Table row limits |
The table can display a maximum of 1,000 rows, so some rare or long-tail rows might be omitted from the table, but included in the chart total. |
|
Anonymized queries |
On the query tab in the table, anonymized (rare) results are omitted from the table, but are included in the chart totals unless a query filter is applied. |
|
Discrepancy in totaling |
When filtering by page or query, the "match" and "does not match" totals may not add up to the unfiltered total, due to the omission of anonymized queries and data truncation. |
Data discrepancies between Search Console and other tools
Search Console data can differ from the data displayed in other tools (such as Google Analytics) for several reasons:
- Privacy: To protect user privacy, the Performance report does not show all data. For example, it omits some queries that are searched a very small number of times.
- Processing: Some processing of the source data might cause stats to differ from other sources (for example, to eliminate duplicates).
- Time lag: There can be a lag between when the numbers are calculated and when they are visible. Collected data is usually available in 2–3 days.
- Time zones: In all views (except the 24-hour view), the Performance report tracks and labels daily data in Pacific Time (PT). If your other systems use different time zones, your daily views may not match exactly. Learn more about dates and time zones.
- JavaScript: Some tools, such as Google Analytics, track traffic only from users who have enabled JavaScript in their browser.
