Hi, I've been experiencing issues with the untethered GPS on my Fossil Gen 5. I have searched here on the community and on several forums, and this appears to be a common problem. On one similar post made here (now locked) a comment was made 6 days ago by a community manager that a fix was rolling out (https://support.google.com/wearos/thread/29065334?hl=en&msgid=57665190); has anyone received this fix or is there any further update as to when this fix will be rolled out.
Many thanks

For everyone having problems with untethered GPS.
I strongly suggest that you run a manufacturer's GPS test on your watch. Firstly make yourself a developer by going to Settings > System > About and tapping the build number 7 times. You will find a new Developer options menu item. Select this, and scroll down to Manufacturer service tool and select it. You will find a GPS Test option which you can run (you need a clear view of the sky, not indoors). This will test the standalone GPS in your watch and its ability to lock onto satellites. If your watch passes this test (ie. finds satellites) then you should be able to use untethered GPS in your fitness app.
Important: if your watch initially gets a GPS fix from your connected phone, then it will not retain the fix once phone and watch disconnect - for example if you go running. I wrote a Reddit post with some possible solutions. Also, as I mentioned in an earlier post, if your watch passes the GPS Test above then Wear Logger will almost certainly work for you to track your activities and upload to Google Fit and/or Strava.
Hope this helps anyone still having GPS problems. Hopefully we will get a proper fix from Google at some point.

I just received my fossil gen 5 yesterday and I have been trying to figure out how to untether the GPS. I purchased this watch because I thought it had a stand alone GPS like my deceased FitBit Ionic and now I'm regretting it.

I was investigating the same issue on Fossil Explorist gen 4. Noticed the same thread and see it is now locked for reply. Would like the details of the update being rolled out as at 8th July so we can confirm if received yet or not. Also if its possible to seek out the update rather than waiting.

I have a Skagen Falster 3 (technically identical with the Fossil Carlyle) but since a few days I have the problem that Google Fit does not have ANY GPS signal. Running 8km isn't enough....tracked were 5,2km (instead of 8) and even after the hour I don't have GPS signal in Google Fit.
All updates are installed, GPS is turned on, BT off (to be sure that it's not connected GPS).
Resetting the watch did not help either :-(
I even activated developer mode to test the GPS module - after 2-3 minuten several satellites were found so it shouldn't be a hardware issue...
Any clue left?
