Can't connect to Moto 360 Gen 2 with Wear OS app. 1 Recommended Answer 20 Replies 81 Upvotes

I'm not sure about the version running on the watch. A few days ago I switched to a new phone, so I had to reset the watch and connect to the new one. When I try to connect through the Wear OS app, the watch would be detected however the pop-up "Link with Wear OS by Google" remains loading forever and the connect option is not available. If I try to pair through Bluetooth settings, it would pair and the watch would check for updates but Wear OS app won't setup the watch causing it to be stuck in "Continue setup on phone" screen. I have no idea what the issue was, the watch was working fine with my previous phone. Is it because the software was the old android wear and can't be used with the new app? I'm pretty sure it was upgraded to android wear 2.0 though.

Hi Albert,

You should be able to verify the Wear version of the watch even before completing the setup. Try holding the crown button for a second or two; that should dump you straight into the Settings menu. You can then navigate to Settings > System > About > Versions to view your watch's version information.

You'll want to be sure to delete/forget your watch from your phone's Bluetooth menu prior to attempting setup in the Wear OS app. Being already connected will likely prevent you from being able to proceed.

I'd recommend the following to see if it will get you past this sticking point:
  • Make sure that the Wear OS and Google apps on your phone are fully up to date.
  • On your watch, go to Settings > System > Disconnect & reset.
  • On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and Forget the watch if it's listed.
  • Go to Settings > Apps > Wear OS > Storage > Clear data.
  • Go to Settings > Apps > Google > Storage > Clear data.
  • Go to Settings > Apps > Google Play Services > Clear data.
  • Reboot the phone.
  • Launch the Google app and go through the setup.
You can then try to open the Wear OS app and complete the watch setup again. Please let me know how it goes.

Cheers,
John

I have the same problem with conecting a Huawei Watch 2.
I made the settings from John but the watch is not conecting to Wear OS.
In the window "Link with Wear OS by Google" the watch is with the right code listed, after  some minutes this window closes without a message.
The Phone (Goole Nexus 6P) have Android 8.1 und the watch have Android 8.0.
Thanks for your help.

What version of Android Wear / Wear OS is on the watch? You might try installing a matching version from apkmirror.com on your phone to see if that makes any difference.
