I can’t find my watch on the list

If you can't find the name of your watch on your phone during the setup process, try these solutions.

Make sure that your watch and phone are both powered on and close together.

Important: The steps below are for Wear OS and may vary based on your manufacturer, device, and software version.

Wear 3 devices

Watches that run Wear OS 3 are not compatible with the Wear OS app. Learn how to find the OS version on your watch. For the Galaxy Watch 4 series, follow these steps to setup your watch.

Complete all the steps on your watch

You won’t find the name of your watch on your phone until you complete the steps on your watch.

  1. When you see "Tap to begin," on your watch, tap the screen.
    • You might need to wait for your watch to power on fully.
  2. On your watch, choose a language.
  3. On your watch, accept the terms of service.
  4. When you see "On your phone, download & open: Wear OS" on your watch, on your phone, tap Refresh Refresh.

Turn on location sharing

On some phones, you need to turn on location sharing to set up your watch.

  1. On your Android phone, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Location.
    • If you don’t see “Location,” tap Security & location and then Location.
  3. Turn Use Location or Location on.
  4. Open the Wear OS app Wear OS by Google, then tap Refresh Refresh.
  5. Once location sharing is on, finish setting up your watch.

Tip: After you set up your watch, you can turn Use Location off again.

If you still can’t find your watch on the list

If you tried the solution above and still have issues, disconnect your watch and reset it to factory settings. Then you can set up your phone and watch from the beginning.

Note: When you reset your watch to factory settings, all apps, settings, and data on your watch are erased.

  1. On your watch, press and hold the Power button.
  2. Scroll down and tap Disconnect and reset Disconnect and reset.
    • If you don't see this option, tap Unpair with phone Disconnect and reset.
  3. To confirm you want to unpair and reset your watch, tap Done Done.
  4. Exit the Wear OS app Wear OS by Google or the companion app for your device.
  5. Set up your watch from the beginning.
