Improve battery life

To maximize the battery life of your watch, try the solutions below.

Let your screen turn off

You can set the display to turn off when not in use, rather than always show the time.

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Tap Settings Settingsand then Display.
  3. At the bottom of the screen, tap Always-on Display to turn it on or off.
    • Wear 2: At the bottom of the screen, tap Always-on screen to turn it on or off.

You can also turn off the display and notifications temporarily.

Try a different watch face

Some watch faces, especially those with animations or interactive abilities, use up more battery life than others.

Adjust screen brightness

The brighter your watch screen, the faster the battery drains. Learn how to turn down your brightness.

Turn off notifications you don't want

  1. On your phone, open the Wear OS app Wear OS by Google or the companion app for your device.
    • Tip: If you use the companion app for your device, follow their instructions.
  2. Scroll down to "Settings" and tap Notifications and then Block app notifications.
  3. To block another app, tap Add more Plus.
  4. Tap the app you want to block.

Uninstall apps

If you recently installed an app and notice that your battery is draining faster than normal, try uninstalling that app.

To uninstall a watch app:

  1. If the screen is dim, tap it to wake up your watch.
  2. To go to your list of apps, press the Power button.
  3. Scroll down and tap Play Store Google Play.
  4. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap My Apps My Apps.
  5. Tap the app you want to delete, then scroll to the bottom and tap Uninstall Uninstall.

Check battery life & usage

With the Wear OS app or your watch’s companion app, you can get more detailed battery info, including:

  • The apps that are using your watch’s battery
  • The amount of time your battery is estimated to last
  • The amount of time your battery will take to finish charging (when it’s connected to power)
  • A chart of your battery life

To find battery details through the app:

  1. Make sure your watch is connected to your phone.
  2. On your phone, open the Wear OS app Wear OS by Google or the companion app for your device.
    • Tip: If you use the companion app for your device, follow their instructions.
  3. Scroll down to "Settings" and tap Advanced settings and then Watch battery.

Tip: Your battery info resets each time your watch is fully charged. The battery usage for apps and watch faces is an estimate and not guaranteed to be accurate. Watch faces may use more battery than estimated.
