Connect to Wi-Fi

Your watch can automatically connect to saved Wi-Fi networks when it loses its connection with your phone.

Turn on Wi-Fi

  1. If your screen is dim, tap it to wake up the watch.
  2. From the top of the screen, swipe down.
  3. Tap Settings Settings.
    • If you don't see it straight away, swipe left and tap Settings Settings.
  4. Tap Connections and then Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is set to off, tap the Wi-Fi switch to switch it on.
  • Wear 2: Scroll and tap Connectivity and then Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is set to off, tap Wi-Fi to switch it to Automatic.

Add or change your watch’s Wi-Fi network

  1. If your screen is dim, tap it to wake up the watch.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  3. Tap Settings Settings.
    • If you don't see it straight away, swipe left and tap Settings Settings
  4. Scroll down and tap Connectivity and then Wi-Fi and then Add network.
  5. If a password is required, tap Enter password on phone.
  6. On your phone, open the Wear OS app Wear OS by Google  or the companion app for your device.
  7. When prompted, enter the password on your phone, then tap Join

Tip: Your watch can't connect to Wi-Fi networks that take you to a page before you can connect (for example, Wi-Fi networks at places like hotels or coffee shops). It also can't connect to 5 GHz networks.

Connect to known networks

As long as your watch's Wi-Fi is on, it will connect automatically to Wi-Fi networks saved in your phone. Note: This doesn't work on all iPhones.
