I’m not getting notifications on my watch

This page can help if:

  • Your watch doesn't vibrate when you get a notification.
  • You're not seeing notifications at all.
Important: The steps below are for Wear OS and may vary based on your manufacturer, device, and software version.
Try these troubleshooting steps. Make sure to check your watch after each step to see if notifications start working.
Check your Bluetooth settings
  1. On your iPhone, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Bluetooth.
  3. Under "My devices," tap on your Wear OS device and then Share System Notifications.
Restart your phone and your watch
You can restart your watch through the Settings app on your watch.
Make sure your watch isn’t in Theater mode

If your watch is in Theater mode, notifications won’t appear and your display will be turned off.

Here’s how to turn off Theater mode:

  • If your watch has a power button: Press it.
  • If your watch doesn't have a power button: Tap the screen twice quickly.

Learn more about Theater mode.

Make sure that your phone's Do Not Disturb mode is off

If your phone is set to Do Not Disturb mode, your watch won’t receive notifications from your phone. Make sure Do Not Disturb mode is turned off.

  1. On your iPhone, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Do Not Disturb and then turn it off.
Make sure that you’re getting notifications on your phone
  1. On your iPhone, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Notifications.
  3. If the app you want is listed as "Off," tap the app name, and then turn on Allow notifications.

If you get a notification on your phone but no sound or vibration, you'll still see it on your watch, but it won’t vibrate.

Make sure you're getting notifications on your lock screen

Your watch only gets notifications that also show up on your phone’s lock screen.

You can check this in your iPhone’s Settings app.

Make sure you haven’t turned off (blocked) notifications for specific apps
  1. On your phone, open the Wear OS app Wear OS by Google.
  2. Scroll down and tap Notifications.
  3. Turn on the apps that should send you notifications.
Check that your phone is connected to the Internet

Try opening a website on your phone, such as news.google.com, to make sure you are connected.

Make sure your watch is paired with your phone

Make sure your iPhone’s Bluetooth is turned on and that it is in range of your watch. If your watch disconnects from your phone, tap the "Tap to reconnect" card.

For more help, learn more about how to pair your watch to your phone, or try some steps to troubleshoot pairing.

Tip: You won't see the Disconnected icon if your watch is in Airplane mode. If your watch isn't paired, on your watch's screen, you may see the Disconnected icon Disconnect

If none of these steps work, try to reset your watch to factory settings.

Important: When you reset your watch to factory settings, all apps, settings, and data on your watch are erased.
