What you can do with Wear OS

On your wrist, you can check your schedule, get information, and send messages.

Important: Some of the information below may be different based on your watch.

When your watch is connected to your phone, you can:

Get messages & other notifications

You can get notifications from your phone on your watch when you get:

  • Incoming phone calls
  • Texts
  • Emails
  • Calendar events
  • Apps

Your watch uses your phone's notifications settings. If you have notifications set up, you’ll be able to read and reply to messages on your watch.

To reply, you can:

  • Speak
  • Handwrite (not available on all versions)
  • Type on keyboard (not available on all versions)
  • Choose from a prewritten Smart Reply (not available on all versions)
Check your schedule, traffic, weather and more

You’ll see notifications pop up from the bottom of the screen that have helpful info in them. In these notifications, you can choose to see timely information and upcoming tasks, including:

  • Check your schedule
  • Track packages
  • Get traffic info
  • Check your flight or hotel reservations
  • Check the weather
  • View reminders
Translate words, check stocks and get help

You can get quick answers from the Google Assistant and do a variety of tasks on your watch using just your voice. Just say "Ok Google" or long press the Assistant button to ask questions or get things done.

  • Translate words or phrases
  • Check stocks
  • Solve math problems
  • Convert between units
  • Find a place or business

Note: If you're using Android Wear 1.5 and below, you'll get information from Google but not on the Google Assistant.

Get directions and see travel info

On your watch, download the Google Maps app from the Play Store.

  • Get turn-by-turn navigation
  • Find a place or business
  • Find business info
  • Check your flight or hotel reservations

Note:If you don't have Google Play on your watch, the Google Maps app will automatically be synced to your watch.

Set goals and track your fitness

Measure your progress and stay motivated with built in fitness tracking.

  • Track a walk, run, or bike ride
  • See how many steps you take each day
  • Set simple goals for steps
  • Check your heart rate (if your watch has this feature)
  • Strength training tracking and daily challenges
Listen to your music and media
  • Control music
  • Listen to music on your watch without your phone
  • Listen to podcasts and music
