Sound suddenly too low to really hear

I am a Waze user for years. Yesterday out of the blue sound is very low.
Android, pixel 6 pro.
I have adjusted volume in and out of app.
No android auto, sound plays to phone speaker (definitely sound on other apps)
Have tried different voices.
Have cleared catch and eventually reinstalled.
I never made any changes which leads me to believe Waze updated and this may be a bug?

I had the same problem on my Samsung A32.  Tried Settings >> Voice and Sound >> Play Sound to Speaker OFF.  It worked and the sound returned at normal levels through the phone speaker.  I hope it works for you too.

Same here on my Samsung S10+... right after the most recent Waze Android update.  Then I read the prior comment and toggled Play Sound to Speaker to off.  It worked!  Changed it back to on and it continued to work UNTIL I shut down Waze and restarted. Upon restart volume was again too low.  Keeping it set to off does work when restarting; but I am concerned that this will cause the sound to come from my car system over Bluetooth, which is not what I want.  I prefer the sound to work properly from my phone speaker.  Hope that this is corrected soon with a new update.

I un-installed and reinstalled and volume is loud and then toggle play through speaker and connect to car Bluetooth and it does not come through phone speaker.

Same issue on Motorola Android phone.  Can no longer get Waze voice directions to come thru phone when connected to car Bluetooth either with the Waze setting Play SOund to Phone Speaker on or off.

Worked my new A35 5G.  I don't have bluetooth on in car phone.

Thank you,  it worked.

Bug work around - if you TURN OFF "Play sound to phone speaker" the audible directions will return to your phone speaker. At least they did on my Samsung S24 Ultra.

Nice catch. This fixed the problem for my Poco X6 pro too. Thanks for the tip.

Brilliant solution!!! I have been struggling with my Galaxy S23 for weeks now, even took it to to 2 "specialists" who lost the battle. Even missed the right exits several times due to not hearing instructions

I have just sorted it out. Much obliged!!!

Thanks!  The waze volume just became barely audible a few days ago.  I tried the above fix and it worked!   I was so frustrated.   Thanks 😊

Thanks >  Yes that worked instantly.

Yup it worked on my S24, so weird that turning off the sound to phone speaker results in sound now going to phone speaker, counter intuitive....obviously a BAD software glitch in Waze or Android...
Thank you Jack for the tip!

So how does that work if you have phone connected to bluetooth but want the sound to play on the phone speaker?

This does help but still have issue when Blue Tooth is toggled on... no sound... except being played thru ear piece
