Add closures and event day modifications

There are various ways a partner can add closures to the map or modify existing information before an event occurs.

Include closure information in your Portal account

To share road closure information for your upcoming event in the Portal:

1. Click on the red button with the three dots  and choose the type of information you’re uploading.
   1. If you’d like to share a single event, click Add new event .  Fill out the relevant information and click Submit.
   2. If you’d like to share a file with multiple events, click Upload file with events . Note: The file must be in CSV format.
2. Once we receive the event information, our team will review the data and add it to the map accordingly. If there’s missing or problematic information, our team will get in touch via email. 

Please make sure to include the following information:

• All of the street names that will be closed during the event
• The intersecting street where each closure begins and ends
• The start and end time of each road that will be closed. Note: The dates & times should reflect the specific closure information rather than the event.
• Indicate if the whole road is closed or just one direction is closed

Add closures to the map using the Waze Map Editor

Add closures to the map using the Waze Map Editor either before or during an event.

The Waze Map Editor allows partners to add closures to the map both in advance or in real time to reflect planned construction, accommodate large-scale events, emergency closures for accidents or natural disasters, etc.

To get access to the Waze Map Editor, please submit a request through the Partner Portal.

Send closure information directly to the Waze team

Contact the Waze team here and include the closure info below. We will add the closure data to the map directly. We accept data in the following formats: 

1. As a spreadsheet. If you choose to send a spreadsheet, please ensure you’ve included the following information:
   1. All of the street names that will be closed during the event
   2. The intersecting street where each closure begins and ends
   3. The start and end time of each road that will be closed
   4. The start and end date of each road that will be closed
   5. Indicate if the whole road is closed or just one direction is closed

   Your spreadsheet should resemble this format:
   

2. As a screenshot of the area of the event. If you would like to send the information as a screenshot, please ensure that the closed roads are marked clearly and include in the email body the start time and end time of each closure.

3. As a map image. Please indicate the start and end time and date that each road will be closed, and include all roads that will be affected.
   Your image should look like this:
