Get trip suggestions

Get info about your upcoming drives so you can know when to leave, which route to take, and what to expect along the way.

Waze offers you trip suggestions based on your recent activity, in this order of importance:

• Planned drives
• Calendar events
• Your driving routines
• Navigation history
• Saved places

In addition, Waze shows recent locations saved on your device.

Note: In-car displays are currently not supported.

How trip suggestions appear in the app

Trip suggestions appear as a list when you open the app.

• Swipe up to expand the list
• Swipe down to collapse the list
• Swipe left, then tap Options 
• Tap any destination to see an overview of your trip with more information about the drive, such as your ETA and the different routes you can take

How do I turn trip suggestions on or off?

Trip suggestions are turned on by default. To turn them off:

1. Open Waze
2. Tap 
3. Tap Settings
4. Tap General
5. Tap Trip suggestions
6. Turn on or off "Show trip suggestions" 

Note: You’ll always see info about planned drives and calendar events – even when this is turned off.

How do I remove trip suggestions based on my driving routines?

1. Open Waze
2. Touch and hold any trip suggestion to open the action menu
3. Tap Remove suggestion
4. Tap Remove

You might still get trip suggestions with a similar origin or destination and departure time.

In some cases you might be able to remove similar future trip suggestions. To do so:

1. Open Waze
2. Touch and hold any trip suggestion to open the action menu
3. Tap Remove similar future suggestions
4. Tap Remove

You might still see trip suggestions with a similar origin or destination but a different departure time.

How do I remove trip suggestions based on my planned drives?

1. Open Waze
2. Touch and hold any trip suggestion to open the action menu
3. Tap Remove planned drive
4. Tap Remove

How do I remove trip suggestions based on my calendar events?

1. Open Waze
2. Touch and hold any trip suggestion to open the action menu
3. Tap Remove event
4. Tap Remove

When the calendar event includes an address, you can remove all suggested future trips to that address. To do so:

1. Open Waze
2. Touch and hold any trip suggestion to open the action menu
3. Tap Remove all events at this address
4. Tap Remove

 

You can remove future suggestions based on your calendar events by turning your calendar off: 

1. Open Waze
2. Tap
3. Tap Settings
4. Tap Planned drives
5. Tap Connect calendar 
6. Turn your calendars off

How do I remove trip suggestions based on my navigation history?

You can delete the relevant drive from your navigation history.

You might still get trip suggestions with a similar origin or destination and departure time. If you don’t want to see any suggestions, you can turn trip suggestions on or off.

How do I remove trip suggestions based on my saved places?

You can delete the relevant drive from your navigation history.

To remove future suggestions based on your saved places, remove it from your saved places:

1. Open Waze
2. Tap the search bar
3. Tap Saved
4. Tap the 3 dots next to the saved place
5. Tap Remove

How do I turn notifications about trip suggestions on or off?

Waze automatically sends you notifications with important info about trip suggestions, like:

• Significant delays due to traffic or road closures
• When to leave to arrive on time

To turn trip suggestion notifications on or off, you'll need to update your settings in two places:

 On your phone 

1. Open the Settings app
2. Tap Apps
3. In the list of apps, tap Waze
4. Tap Notifications
5. Turn on or off "Show notifications"

Note: Steps may vary by device.

In the Waze app

1. Open Waze
2. Tap
3. Tap Settings
4. Tap Notifications
5. Tap Push
6. Turn on or off "Traffic delay notifications" 
7. Turn on or off "Major traffic events"

Note: You can also control the types of notifications you get in the notifications settings.
