Use your favorite audio player app as you navigate—without leaving Waze.

Waze automatically detects compatible music apps on your device, and shows the audio player icon  on the map.

How to use the playback controls

Tap any of these functions at the top of the screen to control what’s playing:

• Play
• Pause
• Skip to the next track
• Skip to the previous track

Do more with playback controls

• Show list – Tap this to access more content from the audio app, like playlists, radio stations, and saved songs
• Audio apps – Switch to another connected audio app
• Close the playback controls by tapping the gray arrow
• Reopen the playback controls by tapping your audio app's icon on the map

I don’t see the audio player icon on the map

You may need to manually turn it on:

1.  Tap
2. Tap Audio player
3. Turn on Show audio player

How do I add an audio player app?

If the audio app you want to use isn't already installed on your device:

1. Tap
2. Tap Audio player
3. Under "Audio player apps" or "More apps", tap an audio app to install it

Once installed, you can select the audio app directly from the map:

1. Tap the  icon on the map
2. Tap the audio app you want to use
3. Tap Accept

Note: Your device must have an internet connection for the audio app to work in Waze.

How do I disable an audio player app?

To disconnect an audio app:

1. Tap
2. Tap Audio player
3. Under “Your apps”, tap Disconnect beside the app

I want Waze to pause my music during directions and alerts

On Android

1. Tap
2. Tap Settings
3. Tap Voice & sound
4. Turn on Play sound to phone speaker

To have voice directions and alerts play over your music at a slightly higher volume, turn this setting off.

To silence voice directions and alerts when you make and receive phone calls, turn on Mute Waze during calls.

On iOS

1. Tap
2. Tap Settings
3. Tap Voice & sound
4. Tap Play sound via, then Device default

To silence voice directions and alerts when you make and receive phone calls, turn on Mute during calls.

To pause spoken-word programs, like podcasts and audiobooks, during voice directions, turn on Pause spoken audio.
