Get “Time to leave” notifications

Receive notifications from Waze when it's time to leave for an upcoming planned drive or calendar event.

How does it work?

Waze checks real-time traffic conditions along your upcoming route. Based on this, Waze tells you when you should leave to get to your destination on time.

Android

Get notifications for planned drives

If you’re not getting notifications, make sure they’re turned on in these places:

On your phone

1. Open the settings app
2. Tap Apps
3. In the list of apps, tap Waze
4. Tap Notifications
5. Toggle on Show notifications 

Note: Steps may vary by device.

In the Waze app

1.  Tap
2. Tap Plan a drive
3. Under “Notifications”, tap Time to leave reminder
4. Choose your preferred timing (either 10 min, or 10 min & 1 hr 30 min before)

Note: To get notifications, make sure you select one of the above timings and not “None.”

Use your live location

Waze can tell you when to leave for a planned drive based on your live location. This is useful if your plans change and you find yourself leaving from a location other than the one set in the planned drive.

In your phone’s settings, we recommend that you check that Waze’s location permission is set to "Allow all the time" – learn how.

Get notifications for your calendar events

To get “Time to leave” notifications for your upcoming calendar events, you must complete all of the following:

• Sync your calendar with Waze
• In your phone’s settings, set location permission to "Allow all the time" – learn how
• Make sure your calendar events have a navigable address, including street name, house number, and city:
  1. Tap
  2. Tap Plan a drive
  3. If a planned drive does not have an address properly set, a Set address button should appear next to it. Tap it to edit the address.
• Make sure notifications for Waze are turned on in these places:

On your phone

1. Open the settings app
2. Tap Apps
3. In the list of apps, tap Waze
4. Tap Notifications
5. If Show notifications is turned off, tap to turn it on

4. If Plan a drive reminders is unchecked, tap to check it
5. Tap Save at the bottom
