Customize the sound settings on your device to hear voice directions as you navigate.

Set your sound preferences before or during a drive

1. Open Waze
2. Tap 
3. Select your sound preference:
   • Sound off: No sounds at all
   • Alerts only: Get alerts only
   • Sound on: Get navigation guidance and alerts
4. Tap OK

Change the volume

1. Open Waze
2. Tap 
3. Tap More sound options
4. Move the "Guidance volume" slider upward or downward to adjust the volume

Android Auto

1. Open Waze
2. Tap Settings
3. Select your sound preference:
   • Sound on: Get navigation guidance and alerts
   • Sound off: No sounds at all
   • Alerts only: Get alerts only

4. Select your sound preference:

CarPlay

Disconnect your phone from your in-car system and set your sound preferences on your phone. These changes will apply when you use Waze in your car.

I can't hear Waze sounds or voices. What do I do?

Step 1: Clear your cache

1. Open Waze
2. In the search bar, enter ##@cctts (all lower case)
3. On your device's keyboard, tap the search icon

Step 2: Reset your voice settings

1. Open Waze
2. Tap 
3. Tap Current voice
4. Select the voice you want to use

How can I mute Waze during calls?

1. Open Waze
2. Tap 
3. Tap More sound options
4. Turn on "Mute Waze during calls"
