Create a Waze account

Welcome to Waze! Follow these steps to get started.

Don’t have the Waze app? Get it on Android or iOS. If you used Waze before, you likely have a guest account. Learn how to register this account.

  1. Open the Waze app on your phone or tablet
  2. Tap Get Started
  3. Read the license agreement & terms of use, and then continue
  4. Read the privacy policy and continue
  5. Sign up with your Google account or an email address to start using Waze. Your email or Google account will be used in case you need to recover your Waze account.

Note: If you’re logged in with different Google accounts into multiple Google products at the same time, some Google systems may use a different account than the one used in Waze.

Got questions?

Why didn't I get a verification email?

If you didn’t get a verification email, try the following:

  • Make sure there aren’t any typos in your email address
  • Make sure you’ve entered your full email address – for example, “username@gmail.com” instead of “username@gmail”
  • Make sure you’re in the inbox of the correct email address
  • Check your email’s spam folder for the verification code
  • Search for “noreply@waze.com”

Note: If your email inbox is on another device than the one you're using to log in, do the following:

  1. Open your inbox from a web browser
  2. Open the verification email and tap Verify email. A new tab will open with a verification code.
  3. In Waze, enter the code

Note: Continuing as a guest is a great option if you’re having trouble logging in, but need to use Waze now. However, to create your own personalizable account that you can recover if anything happens, you must verify your email. When you have time later, register your guest account by verifying your email.

Why doesn't the email have a verification code?

When you open the email on your phone, you should be taken to the Waze app automatically, with no need to enter a code. If you're using email on your computer, the code should appear in the body of the email.

Let's try again:

  1. Open Waze on your mobile device
  2. Tap Log in
  3. Enter your email address
  4. Tap Next

If the email address you entered is already associated with an existing Waze account, you'll be given the option to choose between 2 accounts. To continue, you must choose only one account. The other account will be deleted, including:

Note: You can't merge accounts or recover deleted accounts.

Is there a minimum age requirement to use Waze?

To use Waze, you must be at least 16 years old, according to our Terms of Use.
Waze may ask you to confirm your birthdate. If you enter a birthdate that is below 16 years old, your account will be blocked. Once blocked, it can't be recovered. If this was a mistake and you are at least 16 years old, you can create a new account.
