About Waze

Availability and cost

Waze can be downloaded in the Apple App Store (iPhone & iPad) or the Google Play Store (Android devices) depending on the device you use.

Supported versions and devices

  • iOS: iOS 8.0 and above.
  • Android: OS 4.1 and above. Download only (without support) for OS 2.2.0 and above.
For Waze to work correctly, your device must have GPS and GSM/3G/4G connectivity.

Data and cost

Waze is free to download and use for everyone, but phone and carrier data rates continue to apply. Because Waze receives and delivers real-time road information related to your route, we strongly encourage having a mobile data plan with your mobile service provider in order to use Waze on the go.

Continuous usage could use a lot of data. The amount of data used by Waze may differ from one device to another. It depends on the route taken and its length, map(s) downloaded, time of the day, day of the week, number of reports and traffic, among other factors. You can check your current data usage:

On iOS:

Your phone Settings >  Cellular > scroll down to find Waze.

On Android:

Depending on your OS version, your Data usage may appear in a different area of your phone's Settings.

Availability abroad

Waze can be used everywhere in the world where there are roads. However, the quality of our maps differs depending on the size of the user community at the location. You can check our map coverage at your destination prior to flying using our  web-based Live Map.

Please inquire with your service provider or contact your local provider about a data plan before using Waze abroad. Learn more here:
