Update your email address

Update the email address you use to connect to your account. Make sure to choose an email address that you've never used before with Waze.

Using Waze in your car? Update your email address on your phone. You can then use that address to access your account from your car. If you're using Android Auto or CarPlay, make sure to disconnect your phone first.

1. Check that you have the latest app version on your device
2. Open Waze
3. Tap 
4. Tap Settings
5. Scroll down and tap Account and login
6. Tap Email. You'll be asked to verify your identity through a code sent to your current email address.
7. Check the inbox of your current email address for the verification code
8. Enter the code into the verification screen in Waze
9. Select the relevant option:
   • Continue with Google
   • Continue with email
10. Follow the instructions to add and verify your email address, or connect your Google account

Why didn't I get a verification email?

If you didn’t get a verification email, try the following:

• Make sure there aren’t any typos in your email address
• Make sure you’ve entered your full email address – for example, “[e-mail]” instead of “username@gmail”
• Make sure you’re in the inbox of the correct email address
• Check your email’s spam folder for the verification code
• Search for “[e-mail]” in your inbox

Note: If your email inbox is on another device than the one you're using to log in, do the following:

1. Open your inbox from a web browser
2. Open the verification email and tap Verify email. A new tab will open with a verification code.
3. In Waze, enter the code

Why wasn't my email verified?

If you weren't able to verify your email, try the following:

Option 1: Resend verification email

1. Go back to Waze
2. Tap Having trouble?
3. Tap Resend verification email

Using email on your mobile device?

1. Go to your inbox
2. Open the verification email
3. Tap Verify email

Note: You'll be taken back to the Waze app automatically.

Using email on a web browser?

1. Go to your inbox
2. Open the verification email
3. Click Verify email. A new browser will open with the code.
4. Enter the code in Waze

Option 2: Log in with a guest account for now

1. Go back to Waze
2. Tap Having trouble?
3. Tap Continue as guest

Note: Continuing as a guest is a great option if you’re having trouble logging in, but need to use Waze now. However, to create your own personalizable account that you can recover if anything happens, you must verify your email. When you have time later, register your guest account by verifying your email.

Why doesn't the email have a verification code?

When you open the email on your phone, you should be taken to the Waze app automatically, with no need to enter a code. If you're using email on your computer, the code should appear in the body of the email.

1. Open Waze on your mobile device
2. Tap Log in
3. Enter your email address
4. Tap Next

1. Go to your inbox
2. Open the verification email
3. Tap Verify email

Note: You'll be taken back to the Waze app automatically.

1. Go to your inbox
2. Open the verification email
3. Click Verify email. A new browser will open with the code.
4. Enter the code in Waze

Why do I need to choose between 2 accounts?

If the email address you entered is already associated with an existing Waze account, you'll be given the option to choose between 2 accounts. To continue, you must choose only one account. The other account will be deleted, including:

• Favorite locations, like home and work addresses 
• Points and your level 

Note: You can't merge accounts or recover deleted accounts.
