Connect your music apps to Waymo and play your music directly through the car's speakers.
Connect your accounts
Here’s how to connect your music apps using the Waymo app:
- Open the Waymo app on your phone.
- Go to Account and select Music.
- Tap Spotify or YouTube Music to connect.
You'll be prompted to log in to your account. Follow the on-screen instructions to allow your Waymo and Spotify or YouTube Music accounts to connect.
Note: If you connect a music app during your ride, you’ll need to start playing music from the in-car screen first, and then you can use the app.
Here’s how to connect a music app from the in-car screen:
- Open the menu that slides out from the right side of the in-car screen.
- Tap Spotify or YouTube Music.
- Scan the QR code and follow the steps on your phone.
If ever you need to, you can always go back into your Waymo account settings to disconnect your music apps.
Play your music
You can use either the in-car screens or Waymo app to control music. With Spotify, you can also use the Spotify app.
At the end of your trip, your music will automatically stop playing, and the next rider won’t have access to your account.
Controlling autoplay
Once you connect an account, your music will automatically play whenever you start a new trip.
Here’s how to turn off autoplay:
- Open the Waymo app.
- Go to Account.
- Tap Music.
- Turn off Autoplay music.
Enjoy iHeartRadio stations
A selection of iHeartRadio stations are always available inside the car. Plus, you can edit them to add your favorites!
Just tap iHeartRadio on the menu to listen to an existing selection of stations.
To add new stations from the Waymo app:
- Open the Waymo app on your phone.
- Go to Account and select Music.
- Tap Manage iHeart stations, then Add a station to search and browse content for your rides.
Can I connect any music service?
I don’t see a way to connect my music apps.
Who can choose songs in the car while using Spotify?
Only the person who hailed the ride can specify the songs.
However, if the person who hailed the ride has a Spotify Premium account, they can start a Jam where other Spotify users can join and add songs to the queue.
What music is available to me while using YouTube Music in the car?
Only existing playlists from the ride hailer’s library will be available to choose from.
How do my music apps work with the ‘Autoplay music’ setting in the app?
If, at the start of a trip, Autoplay music is turned on and you have a music app linked, that app will automatically play in the car.
If Autoplay music is turned off, you will need to start music from the in-car screen. To turn Autoplay on or off, find the setting in Account > Music.Will my music apps remain connected for future rides?
Yes, once you connect an account, Waymo remembers it for future trips until you choose to disconnect it.
Will my music keep playing for the next rider after my trip?
Can I tune the sound coming from the car’s speakers?
Yes! We offer an equalizer where you can adjust the balance and fade, subwoofer, bass, and treble of the car’s speakers.
From the My Car tab of the Waymo app, select Adjust audio settings to get the equalizer. You can also find it through the settings icon on the bottom right of the Now playing screen.
