G pay not working

I have set up google wallet on a new Samsung s23 phone and added cards. I used cards from the same banks before and they have worked and are still supported. However when I try to pay, nothing happens and the virtual card is not read. I also don't get a frequent vibratory buzz to show the app is trying to pay which I get with Samsung wallet payments.

Have reinstalled app, re added the cards to no avail.

Any solutions in the community before I take it to Samsung for a hardware check.

You described a 'frequent vibratory buzz'

On your Android device > Settings > Notifications > Device & app notifications > enable Google Play Services and Google if they are shown as "Not Allowed" - select each > scroll down mini pop up and select "Allow"

On your Android device > open the Google Wallet app > tap on your Google profile icon in the upper right of screen > Wallet Settings > enable BOTH Notifications.

On your Android device > Settings > Apps > All Apps > open Google Play Services > Notifications > enable all Google Play Notifications.

On your Android device > Settings > Apps > All Apps > open Google Wallet > Notifications > enable all Wallet Notifications.

Reboot your device.

Is Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled on your phone? Open phone Settings > Connections > NFC > Contactless Payments > enable NFC.

After updating, follow the steps in a Samsung help article but choose Google Pay as your default

If no resolution try re-adding your card:

Go to Settings > Apps > Show system apps > Google Play services > Manage space > Clear all data. Then, re-add your cards to Wallet.
