Require a payments PIN to use Wallet

You can set up a payments PIN to make Wallet more secure. Note: Your payments PIN is different than the PIN you might have set up for phone security.

To require a payments PIN to use Wallet:

  1. Visit wallet.google.com.
  2. Tap or click Menu Menu.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Switch "Require Payments PIN" to On.

Change or reset your PIN

You can change or reset your PIN at any time.

  1. Open the Wallet app or visit wallet.google.com.
  2. Tap or click Menu Menu.
  3. On your mobile device, tap Settings > Security > Change Google Payments PIN. On your computer, click Settings > Change Google Payments PIN.
  4. Enter your current PIN.
    • If you forgot your PIN, tap or click Forgot PIN? > Yes, reset it.
  5. Then enter and confirm your new PIN.
    • Make your Payments PIN something you'll remember. Your Wallet will be locked if you enter it incorrectly too many times.

Add a PIN timeout

Another way to keep Google Wallet safe is by choosing how often it "times out" or locks. When this happens, you'll have to enter your Google payments PIN to unlock the app.

  1. Open the Wallet app.
  2. Tap Menu Menu.
  3. Tap Settings > Security > Auto-lock.
  4. Enter your payments PIN.
  5. Choose how long it takes for your PIN to time out.
    • If you choose 15 minutes or 1 day, you'll need a data connection each time you unlock Wallet.

Note: Wallet will ask for your Google payments PIN outside of your chosen timeout, even if you choose "Never," when transactions need extra security verification.
