Send, request, receive, or withdraw money

You can use Google Wallet to send, request, or receive money. There are no fees to make a transaction.

If you have money stored in Wallet, you can transfer it to a bank account.

If you’re having problems completing a transaction, here are a list of likely reasons.

Send money

When you send money to someone using a debit card or your Wallet Balance, they’ll typically get it within minutes.

If they don’t already use Wallet and don't claim it within 14 days, the money will be returned to you.

  1. Visit
  2. Click the Send money tab.
  3. Click $0 and enter the amount you want to send.
  4. Enter your recipient's name, email address, or phone number.
  5. Confirm the amount and your payment method. You can also include a memo.
  6. Click Send.
    • If you made a mistake or changed your mind, you have a few seconds to tap Cancel transfer.


  • You can’t send more than $9,999 USD per single transaction or more than $50,000 USD per 5-day period.
  • If you live in Florida, there's a limit of $3,000 USD every 24 hours.

Note: Google Wallet transactions are covered by Google Wallet Fraud Protection, even when you send money to a phone number or non-Gmail address. Transactions are also watched 24/7 for fraudulent or unauthorized activity.

Request money or complete a request

Request money from someone
  1. Visit
  2. Click the Request money tab.
  3. Click $0 and enter the amount you want to request.
  4. Enter the recipient's name, email address, or phone number. You can also add a memo.
  5. Click Request.

Cancel a request or send a reminder

  1. Visit
  2. From the top left, click the Menu Menu and then Transactions.
  3. Tap Cancel request or Send reminder.
Complete a request

If you get a request for money through an email or notification from Wallet, you can complete it by clicking on the link in the email or notification. You can also follow these instructions.

  1. Visit
  2. From the top left, click the Menu Menu.
  3. Click Transactions.
  4. Find the request and click Pay now.

Receive money

When someone sends you money through Wallet, you'll get an email or text message from Google with instructions on how to get the money.

Claim money by email

  1. In the notification email, click Claim money and make sure it opens the Wallet app or
  2. The next time you get money, open the Wallet app or sign in to to view your transaction.
    • If you’ve set a default payment method, any money you receive will go directly to it.

Withdraw money

You can transfer money from your Wallet Balance to your linked bank account or debit card for free. Transfers to your debit card typically complete within minutes but may take up to 24 hours for some banks. Transfers to a bank account are usually done within 3 business days.

To withdraw money from your Wallet Balance:

  1. Visit
  2. From the top left, click the Menu Menu and then Cash out.
  3. Enter an amount to transfer.
  4. Choose a payment method you want to transfer to.
  5. Click Transfer to bank.
First time receiving money

If you’re receiving money for the first time, you can transfer it directly to your bank account without verifying your identity if:

  • The amount is less than $1,000.
  • You’ve received less than $5,000 total.

When you reach any of these limits, you'll have to verify your identity before you can transfer money to an eligible payment method.

Withdrawal limits

Bank account transfer: Limit of $10,000 USD per single transaction and $50,000 USD per 5-day period.

Debit card transfer: Limit of $2,500 USD per transaction and $10,000 USD per 30-day period.

If you live in Florida: You can withdraw up to $3,000 USD every 24 hours. Debit card limits still apply.
