Send money or pay a request

You can use Google Wallet to:

  • Send money to friends and family or to someone using their email address or phone number.
  • Pay requests for money sent by your contacts.

There are no fees to use Wallet.

If you have a problem sending money, here is a list of likely reasons.

Send money

  1. Open the Wallet app Wallet.
  2. Enter the amount you want to send.
  3. Tap Send.
  4. Enter your recipient's name, email address, or phone number.
  5. Check that the amount and payment method are correct. You can also include a memo.
  6. Tap Send.
    • If you made a mistake or changed your mind, you have a few seconds to tap Cancel transfer.

Note: When you send money to someone using a debit card or your Wallet Balance, they’ll typically get it within minutes.

If they don’t already use Wallet and don't claim the payment within 14 days, the money will be returned to you.

Pay a money request

Tap the link in the email or notification from Wallet or follow these instructions.

  1. Open the Wallet app Wallet.
  2. Tap Notifications Notifications.
  3. In the request, tap Settle up.
  4. Check that the amount and payment method are correct.

How much you can send

  • You can send up to $9,999 USD in one transaction or up to $10,000 USD in 7 days.
  • If you live in Florida, you can send up to $3,000 USD every 24 hours.

Note: Google Wallet transactions are covered by Google Wallet Fraud Protection, even when you send money to a phone number or non-Gmail address. Transactions are also watched 24/7 for fraudulent or unauthorized activity.
