How to tap and pay

You can tap and pay with your Google Wallet compatible NFC Android device at thousands of merchants that accept contactless payments.

Once all your items are scanned, make sure your device's screen is turned on. Pay by tapping the back of your device on the contactless payment terminal. You may be required to enter your Wallet PIN if you've set a timeout.

When tapping your device against the contactless terminal, the device should be within 1-2 inches of the payment reader.

Tell the cashier you're paying with "credit." The terminal may flash or beep to indicate that a payment has been made using your Google Wallet.

You'll need a network connection once a day to tap and pay, and every time you want to change or add funding sources.

If you have a Wallet Balance, you may also use this to pay for your purchase. To enable this, go to the main My Wallet screen, tap on Change tap and pay settings, and make sure the "Use Wallet Balance first when available" box is checked. When your Wallet Balance is not enough to cover the total amount of your purchase, the difference will be covered using your default funding method.
