Important: Google Wallet for children is currently only available in the US, UK, Australia, Spain and Poland.
What is Google Wallet for children?
Google Wallet for children is a way for children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country) with supervised Google Accounts managed by their parents using Family Link to securely save and use payment methods, tickets and other supported passes.
What children can do
Your child can do the following with Google Wallet:
- Remove a payment card from their phone or smartwatch.
- Make contactless transactions in shops.
- Online and in-app payments aren't supported. Payments across Google, including YouTube and Play, are also not supported. Learn more about pay contactless for children.
- Add or remove supported passes like loyalty and gift cards, boarding passes and event tickets to and from their phone or smartwatch. Learn more about supported pass types for children.

What parents can do
As the parent, you can control the following from your child's Google Wallet or in Family Link:
- Add payment cards to your child's Wallet. Learn more about how to add a payment card to your child's Wallet.
- Monitor your child's recent transactions through Family Link and email notifications.
- Remove your child's payment cards remotely.
- Block your child's access to Wallet passes features.
Important: Spending controls for your child's payment cards aren't available in Family Link or Google Wallet. However, payment card spending controls may be available through your card issuer. Contact the card issuer to confirm. Learn more about spending controls.
Supervised accounts using Wallet
Children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country) can't use Google Wallet unless they have a supervised Google Account with Family Link.

Tips:
- Only the family manager or someone with parent permissions in your family group on Family Link can manage your child's Google Wallet. Learn more about managing a family group.
- When your child turns 13 or the applicable age in your country, they'll have the option to manage their own account. You'll receive an email notification before this occurs. Learn more about what happens once your child chooses to manage their own account.
Spending controls
The spending controls for payment cards added to Google Wallet for children aren't available on Google Wallet or on Family Link. Some card issuers provide spending controls.
Tip: Check with the card issuer to confirm whether they offer spending controls.
What happens when the child turns 13 (or the applicable age in your country)
Important: The child's age of consent may vary by country. Learn more about your country's age requirements.
When your child turns 13 (or the applicable age in your country), they can choose to:
- Take no action and continue their current parental supervision.
- Update their Google Account and continue their current parental supervision.
- Update their Google Account and stop parental supervision.

You and your child will receive reminder emails to notify you that your child can choose to update their Google Account and stop parental supervision. You'll receive these emails leading up to your child's birthday that marks the age of consent, including:
- 30 days before
- 7 days before
- On their birthday
If they decide to update their Google Account, you'll receive another email.
What happens when parental supervision stops?Your child will now be able to:
- Add payment cards to Google Wallet or Google Pay on their own.
- Add any passes supported by Google Wallet and continue using any previously added passes. Learn more about supported cards and passes. If you previously blocked passes for your child, your child will now be able to access Wallet's passes features.
- Use payment cards in Google Wallet, including any payment cards added before parental supervision stops, to:
- Pay on apps and websites with the Google Pay button.
- Autofill payment info in Chrome to check out faster online.
- Pay across Google on Google Play Store, YouTube and more.
Tip: For added security, any payment method added before your child turns 13 (or the applicable age in your country) that they continue to use after they update their account will require a one-time CVV code confirmation before it can be used for transactions online, in-app or across Google.
As a parent, you can no longer:
- Find your child's transactions in Family Link or receive email notifications of new transactions.
- Tip: You may still be able to view their transactions directly from the card issuer's site or app.
- Add or remove payment cards for your child.
- Tip: If you don't want your child to continue using the card after they update their account, you must remove the payment card before they update. Cards that remain in their Google Account at the time of update can no longer be removed by the parent.
- Monitor your child's transactions through Family Link or email notifications
- Block your child's access to the Wallet passes features.
