Use Transit Insights in Google Wallet

Use the Transit Insights feature to view your progress toward fare discounts and fare capping, savings over time, and recent trips and activity.

To use the Transit Insights feature, you must:

Tips:

  • Only certain transit providers in select regions offer Transit Insights cards on Google Wallet.
  • Rides must be paid with the payment card that's linked to your Transit Insights card in Google Wallet. Using your physical card or a different digital payment card to pay for rides will not count towards your Travel Insights benefits.
  • Your transit agency determines how fare capping works. Contact your transit agency for issues or questions.

Add a Transit Insights card

Important: A Transit Insights card isn’t a form of payment. You must link a payment card to your Transit Insights card to pay for rides.

  1. Open the Google Wallet app .
  2. Tap Add to Wallet and then Transit pass.
  3. Choose your public transport system.
    • Recommended or nearby transit options are at the top. To find all supported transit options, scroll down.
    • If you can't find your public transport system, your transit provider may not be supported.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. Tap Continue.
  6. Review the terms. 
  7. Tap Continue and then View in Wallet.

Remove a Transit Insights card

Important: When you remove a payment card from a Transit Insights card, it won’t remove the debit or credit card from Google Wallet.

  1. Open Google Wallet app .
  2. Scroll to your passes.
  3. Tap the Transit Insights card and then More More and then Delete card.

Find transit info

With a Transit Insights card, the user can find this information in Google Wallet:

  • The debit or credit card connected to the Transit Insights card
  • Progress toward rewards like rides at no charge
  • Total amount saved over time
  • Recent trips and activity
  • Alerts on your account to take action on
  • News and updates from the transit provider

To find transit info in Google Wallet:

  1. Open Google Wallet app .
  2. Scroll to your passes.
  3. Tap the Transit Insights card.

How do I link my Transit Insights card to a different payment card?

One Transit Insights card can only be linked to one debit or credit card. 

If you want to use another debit or credit card, you must delete your existing Transit Insights card and create a new one.

Tip: Rewards are only earned for rides paid with the payment card that's linked to your Transit Insights card.
